On Thursday afternoon a teenager attacked a 58-year old man as the CTA purple line train approached the South Blvd station in Evanston, and stole his laptop computer.

Police responded to the incident at about 4:16 p.m. March 31 in the 800 block of Chicago Avenue. The victim, a 58-year-old Evanston man, said he was riding the northbound Purple line train and using his laptop computer when one of the teens punched him in the forehead, according to police.

The teen then took the man’s computer and exited the train at Evanston’s South Boulevard station, being aided by a second teen who held the train door open, police said.

It was just a few days ago that a woman was robbed of her i-Phone just as the ‘L’ doors opened at the Fullerton. That robbery ended tragically. As the thief made his escape he ran into Sally Katona-King, 68, knocking her down a flight of stairs. She died the next day of injuries suffered in the fall. The suspect is still at large.
